Greg Whitney
Greg brings more than 30 years of development experience to Poag Shopping Centers, having directed over 40 major projects totaling more than 50 million square feet. He is recognized for his exceptional creative vision and ability to craft uniquely authentic development solutions that elevate the emotional and financial value of a property.
Prior to joining Poag, Greg was a Senior Vice President – Retail Development at JLL, where he led third party development efforts for large-scale mixed-use projects, including The Rise, a 5,000,000-square-foot development in Cupertino, California and Midway Crossing, a 3,100,000-square-foot mixed-use project on Long Island, New York.
Before JLL, Greg was Director of Development at Wilson Meany, where he played a key role in the master planning, entitlement and development of SoFi Stadium and the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment District at Hollywood Park. The transformative project includes a 68,000-seat NFL-specification stadium for the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, surrounded by 8.6 million square feet of mixed-use development.
Greg also spent 24 years as Senior Vice President at CBRE, Inc., working on large-scale master-planned developments with MGM Studios in China and Paramount Studios in Japan and Spain. Additionally, he provided Lifestyle Center and mixed-use development advisory services for RUNWAY at Playa Vista, The Shoppes at Chino Hills, and exclusive representation of Target in their Los Angeles county expansion.
Greg earned a Bachelor of Science in Business/Real Estate from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and is affiliated with the Los Angeles Leadership Council, run by university trustees. He is an active member of ICSC and the Urban Land Institute, and is a licensed broker in the state of California.
Greg also frequently guest lectures for the Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program at the University of Southern California.
