L.L.Bean Outdoor Discover School Brings Winter Adventure to The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley

Center Valley, PA – Outdoor enthusiasts gathered throughout January at L.L.Bean at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley for the brand’s popular Outdoor Discover School Winter Clinics. Held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, the free sessions focused on helping participants stay active, safe, and confident while exploring the outdoors during the winter months in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Led by program coordinator Donna Kohut—an experienced yoga instructor, river guide, and former Wildlife Conservancy team member—alongside L.L.Bean experts, the clinics covered a range of topics. Highlights included “Adventure Travel Essentials,” led by bike mechanic Phil Tade, and “Through-Hike Basics,” guided by veteran hiker Jim Rowland, who has logged more than 25,000 miles on trails.

Additional offerings included pet-friendly sessions like “Outdoor Adventures with Your Dog,” providing practical tips for safely exploring with pets, as well as unique experiences such as guided “Yoga Hikes” at scenic local destinations including Pinnacle Trail and Trexler Game Preserve.

The month concluded with a special “Full Moon Hike” at South Mountain Nature Preserve, where participants learned proper equipment use and experienced the trails after dark while discovering nocturnal wildlife.

L.L.Bean’s Outdoor Discover School will continue to offer clinics year-round, with programming that evolves alongside the seasons—encouraging the community to embrace the outdoors and truly “Be an Outsider.”
